Hi, I’m Michael Gilstrap. I’m an Everyday Sainthood Coach.
I guide lay Catholics to embrace the quest for sainthood by infusing their ordinary life with extraordinary love for God and others.
Everyday Saints… Ordinary Life… Extraordinary Love.
I guide you to develop the tools of life needed to transform the ordinary
moments of your day into a life full of love and intimacy with God.
You are called to be a saint.
A layperson’s call to holiness isn’t second-class, nor should it be an adapted version of the spirituality of a monk, nun or priest. You are called to be a saint right where you are — rooted in daily life, ordinary work, and everyday relationships.
Me a saint?
When I converted as a Roman Catholic 30 years ago, the first message I heard was a challenge to embrace Jesus’s call to become a saint. I was incredulous. Me a saint?
The priest gently asked, “Michael, do you believe that if Jesus asks something of you, He won’t also give you all that you need to accomplish it?”
A tough truth to swallow when the standard is Be holy as I am holy. But I swallowed it. Then and now.
What is a Saint?
- To be a saint is… to love because God is love.
- To be a saint is… to fulfill God’s will in the little things of each day because our lives are full of little things.
- To be a saint is… NOT just for martyrs or individuals who do extraordinary, even otherworldly acts of holiness.
- To be a saint is… NOT to see your name on the calendar pages of the missalette. Some saints end up there. Most don’t.
- To be a saint is… to live your ordinary life in the middle of the world with extraordinary love for God and others.
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
— Saint Teresa of Calcutta

A 9-to-5 Saint lives an ordinary life with extraordinary love. They live in the middle of the world, as spouses and parents, juggling demanding professional and social lives, offering their ordinary lives for the love of God and for others. A 9-to-5 Saint’s ordinary life and work are the raw materials of their sanctity.
We’re called to be 9-to-5 Saints, living ordinary lives with extraordinary love.

The question that has driven me for thirty years is, “How can I live my ordinary life in the middle of the world with an extraordinary love for God and others, especially those closest to me?”
